#788 · Squad comparison, a new view: Game time & form · round 1

Ross, on three new views for Squad comparison: "To be honest i like all 3 ideas and would like to see all of them. So lets work through each one and as we sign off each one raise an issue to capture its details". This is the first: how the season is going for each player right now - who is playing, who is in form, and whether anyone promised a place is getting one. The other tabs are #782, #784 and #786, drawn in 302-squad-comparison-redesign.html.

What to look at, round 1
  1. A fourth tab, Game time & form, between Statistics & metrics and History, on the same rail and header bar. The whole First Team is picked to start, since game time is a question about the squad.
  2. A row per player and a column per month. Each month shows the minutes he played in it, on a bar against the most any of ours played that month, and that month's own rating on the card's scale for Rating - 6 to 8, a quarter each. Under them, his goals and assists that month. Hover a month for the rest: starts, times off the bench, and where he played.
  3. His squad status, and how he feels about his playing time, come first - FM's own words, from the squad view capture. Concerned is amber and Alienated red, with a stripe on the row. A change of squad status says when, and ◆ marks the month it happened. The verdict is as it stands at the latest capture: the app keeps it as a reading rather than as history (#187), so it says how he feels now, not since when.
  4. The season: his minutes on a bar against the most any of ours has played for us - the card's own yardstick, keepers apart - and his share of it.
  5. Form: his last month's rating against his season's, where that month has a rating.
  6. Grouped by status, Star Player down to Out On Loan, so a Regular Starter on a short bar stands out among long ones. The order can also be most minutes first, unhappiest first, or as picked.
  7. A season picker: 25/26 is the save's; the two before are made up, a whole season each, to show the width ten months take.

Real: 25/26, August to December - minutes, appearances, goals, assists and ratings from the December save's statistics captures, and every squad status from its squad view captures, July to December, with each player's playing-time verdict at the latest of them. Illustrative: 23/24 and 24/25, #300's made-up football. They carry no squad status, which the app would have.

How a month is worked out: FM's figures are the season to date, so a month is what they grew by since the capture before - counts only, within one club, since FM restarts his totals at a new one. The month's rating comes from his rating and appearances at both captures, and only where he played 90 minutes or more in the month - the line FM itself draws for per-90s (#510). FM leaves some short appearances unrated while still counting them as appearances, so a month of cameos cannot be taken apart (found below). Rating is the one rate that can be taken apart at all: FM writes per-90s to one place, so a month's own per 90 cannot be rebuilt, and none are shown.

Found building it - computed on this page from the December save:

  1. FM says some of the First Team are unhappy with their playing time: ….
  2. A status is a promise the view can check. …
  3. A month's most moves with the fixtures: … minutes from August to December. So each month's bars are against that month's most, not a fixed number.
  4. FM leaves some short appearances unrated, but counts them. … A month's rating worked out over those would be his season's, repeated. So a month needs 90 minutes to carry a rating. FM also writes a few ratings to one place - Marcus Rashford's at Barcelona is 7.2 at every capture - and the same rule catches those.
  5. Past that, working a month's rating out is safe. … A one-game month's rating is still shown faint, since one game is one game.
