#817 · A Summary tab for the current season, and each player's Summary · round 4
Round 4. Ross, choosing among 817-change-summary-ideas.html: "i think number 1 is what i am after, and having a card per section i really like, even if they are empty it shows what i want"; then "Could we have a summary tab, a new tab before Player evolution that is the summary for the current season"; and "i think the current season summary tab is the way to go. We do not need the capture digest as i think we should show it here aswell. We can have a latest capture change card".
A Summary tab, on the dashboard before Player evolution, opened here first. The current season, which is the latest one captured, for the squads ticked. A card per section, shown even when it has nothing to say: Latest capture, Improving most, Declining most, Form, Figures on the move, Best roles, Moves & terms. Each lists the top three and counts the rest, never the whole squad.
Latest capture stands in for the capture digest: what the last capture changed against the one before. That's the data, not judgements: attributes, and the squad's loans, contracts and moves, with no roles or positions.
Every name opens his own Summary on Player evolution, the per-player cards from rounds 1 to 3, unchanged. The rail goes back to a plain list; the arrows are on a switch below, off.
The per-tab summaries the issue began with (Squad comparison, Player comparison, League comparison) are dropped. This one tab is where the squad's season is summarised.
Player evolution's Summary sub-tab, first and opened by default: five fixed cards, each a short fact about the player picked. Click a card and it opens the tab it came from, drilled in. The drill-ins below are only the part of each tab a card lands on; the tabs themselves are unchanged.
Round 3. Ross, on round 2: "I actually like the idea of seeing Physical/technical decline/improvement", "can we just use the settings definition of categories and attributes to set the pills?", and "I don't think there should be any hard coded rules, eg the over-30 rule dump it as i still want to know if they are declining".
The Attributes card's pills are Settings' categories: one per category that moved, ▲ Technical +2, ▼ Physical −3, named as Settings names them, in Settings' order, with the chips grouped the same way. Rename a category and the pill follows; make one and it gets a pill; move an attribute and its change goes with it. The "Try it" switch below adds a Set pieces category to show it.
No hard-coded rules. The over-30 rule and the list of physical attributes are gone. Every attribute counts, for everybody, so no decline is hidden; the pills say where it happened.
Round 2. Ross, on round 1: "i like the cards saying the details but i kind of want it more obvious that something has happened", and "A summary view for each player is great actually lets definately keep that but i would like a more obvious way than the dots under the players that there are some players improving or declining", with a star ruled out because "stars are used for ability".
The rail marks who is moving, in place of the dots. The arrows are the Timeline's own: ▲2 improving and ▼3 declining on his Attributes card, by the measure and period picked below. The biggest movers are filled (▲3▼3), and grouped at the top of the rail, one click each. His mark sits beside his name on the header bar too.
A card with news says which way: a coloured edge and a pill (▲ Improving, ▼ Declining, New best role, ▼ 4 worse). The quiet ones fold into one line under them, "Nothing new", still a click away.
An overall summary, over the top of the whole tab, was the other idea, and Ross was not sure of it. The issue already has it as Squad comparison's Summary ("Improving most and declining most", "In form and out of form"). That is where I'd build it, as that tab's round, with the rail's marks doing the job here.
Real data, computed live. The December save, Man Utd 25/26: 87 players (85 on the roster, 2 who have left), attributes at six months (Jul to Dec) and statistics and metrics at five (Aug to Dec). A throwaway probe poured it into today's schema and read it through the app's own builders: AttributeProgression, EvolutionRoleHistory, CardFootball (with EvolutionStatisticRows.Added, EvolutionFigureOrder.Weights and Evidence.Earned) and PlayerHistory. So a card and the tab it opens start from the same figures. Everything a card decides on top of that is worked out in this page, so the questions below can be switched.
